Up to 800-year-old kelo pine logs are the material from which this traditional sauna is built. The actual sauna room generously extends over three levels around a huge ceramic sauna stove and has a pleasant heat. In addition, this Finnish sauna has a small grotto you can sit in and a room with a fireplace where you can relax after your sauna.

The earth wall sauna is probably the warmest place in the Claudius Therme and, at the same time, the cosiest. As one of the oldest and most original forms of sauna, it is partly set into the earth. Lit by a real open fire, it surrounds the visitor with a cosy atmosphere, making it the perfect place to relax in. The relatively high temperatures are very easy to tolerate thanks to the low level of humidity. As we do not pour any water onto hot rocks in the earth wall sauna, you can rest and relax here in peace and quiet at any time.

The banya is the traditional bathing house of the Russians. Originally a place where people would wash themselves, the banya in Russian villages developed into a popular place of rest and relaxation, one that can look back on a very lively tradition. The banya in the Claudius Therme was originally built in Siberia and then dismantled piece by piece only to be re-built in the sauna village along with pine logs and taiga moss. The Siberian bathing house differs from the Finnish sauna in that birch water is used to create steam – steam which has an extremely beneficial effect on the body and skin thanks to its cleansing and healing properties. A lower temperature as well as a higher level of humidity support the regenerative effect. The "venik" (see Different kinds of vaporisation) and the unique "banya ritual" in particular (see Different kinds of vaporisation) in this sauna are unforgettable experiences.
